Tuscany Regional Elections: Giani ready to take the field for a repeat: "I'm available."

July 9, 2025

Eugenio Giani is ready to take the field, to run again for a second term of presidency of the Region after his first mandate
Florence, July 9, 2025 – "I was deeply moved and sincerely thank everyone who has recently shown such support and human and political warmth toward my re-election. I must say I was delighted to see such respectable and engaged Democratic Party circles. This morning I saw more than half of Tuscany's mayors, along with numerous representatives of civil, economic, trade union, and social society. Therefore, I can only offer my availability for the next legislative session."
Tuscany Region President Eugenio Giani said this in response to journalists. "Naturally," Giani added, "I do so within the party and coalition rules. The party is asking me to express my willingness, and I have formalized it so that the regional leadership can comply with Articles 31 of the National Statute and 24 of the Regional Statute. It is unquestionable that the party must present a candidate at the coalition table, and consequently follow the established procedures, whether it be me or someone else, but in any case, it must interact with the candidate. And then with the coalition, which naturally represents the point of reference, as it has been in this legislature, in order to define how to present the lists, how to proceed to the elections on October 12th."
Giani emphasized the need to renew his commitment on certain fronts, such as "healthcare, free daycare, free books, labor issues and therefore crisis situations, I'm also thinking of the law we passed on industrial consortia, continuing to defend the measures that have been raised before the Constitutional Court, such as medically assisted end-of-life care," and "the construction of important infrastructure."
Giani then discussed the issues: "A strong commitment from the Region to combating social inequality and promoting pathways that must lead to ensuring adequate and solid employment for all," along with the issues of public water and rights in the public healthcare system: these are the priorities highlighted by the president ahead of the upcoming regional elections.
"I believe it is important that, as I express my willingness to serve in the next legislature, the process now moves toward a deeper understanding of the program. Alongside the issues that have characterized this legislature, in the next one and in discussions with the coalition forces, aspects relating to three key issues must be highlighted. First and foremost, a strong commitment from the Region to combating social inequalities and promoting pathways that must lead to ensuring adequate and solid employment for all."
